② antihypertensive effect
Intravenous injection of paeonol water decoction (equivalent to crude drug 0.75 g/kg) has antihypertensive effect on anesthetized dogs, cats and rats; paeonol and decoction from paeonol have also reduced blood pressure in acute animal experiments Efficacy; oral administration in experimental hypertensive (“primary” and renal) dogs or rats can have a certain antihypertensive effect, but the effect is slower, possibly due to slow absorption in the gastrointestinal tract.
③ Antibacterial effect
In the test tube, it has strong antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus albus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and Typhoid Bacillus. Cortex Moutan has a significant effect on Shigella and Typhoid Bacillus (two-fold dilution method in test tube), and has the strongest bactericidal effect at pH 7.0 to 7.6. The agar plate trenching method has also been proved to be effective against typhoid bacillus, dysentery bacillus, parasitic cold bacillus, and Escherichia coli.
Proteus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus, hemolytic streptococcus, pneumococcus, Vibrio cholerae and other bacteria have different degrees of inhibition. Paeonol also has inhibitory effects on Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, etc. in test tubes. The infusion of paeonol also has a certain inhibitory effect on 10 kinds of dermatophytes such as Microbacillus rust in the test tube.
④Other functions
Paeonol has an inhibitory effect on the edema of hindlimb and plantar in rats, and can reduce the permeability of blood vessels. Experiments with chicken embryos show that Cortex Moutan has a certain antiviral effect, but the results are different when mice are given gavage and then infected with influenza virus, so its antiviral effect is still uncertain.
The hot infusion of Hima peony produced in the Himalayas has an excitatory effect on the uterus of various animals, but it inhibits the frog heart, and has an antispasmodic effect on the intestinal tract of rabbits and guinea pigs. The ethanolic extract of medicinal peony, steamed to remove ethanol, has a digitalis-like effect on the heart of frogs, can excite the uterus, inhibit the intestinal tract of rats and rabbits, and slightly reduce blood pressure in rats, but has no analgesic and anticonvulsant effects (electric shock). and pentamethyltetrazolium shock).
Processed peony bark: pick out impurities, remove the wood core, wash, moisten thoroughly, slice and dry. Stir-fried Danpi: Put the Danpi slices in a hot pot, stir-fry continuously until there is a slight yellow scorch spot, take the mountain and cool it thoroughly. Identification
1) The powder of this product is light reddish brown. There are many starch granules, single granules are round or polygonal, 3-16 μm in diameter, umbilical point-shaped, crack-shaped or bird-shaped; complex granules are composed of 2-6 granules. Calcium oxalate clusters are 9-45 μm in diameter, and sometimes contain crystal cells connected, cluster crystals arranged in rows, or a cell contains several cluster crystals. Cork cells are oblong, slightly thick-walled, light red.

3) Take 1g of this product powder, add 10ml of ether, seal it, shake for 10 minutes, filter, evaporate the filtrate to dryness, add 2ml of propylene copper to the residue to dissolve it, and use it as the test solution. Another reference substance of paeonol was taken, and acetone was added to make a solution containing 5mg per 1ml, as the reference substance solution. According to the thin-layer chromatography (Appendix VI B) test, draw 10 μl of each of the above two solutions, and spot them on the same silica gel G thin-layer plate respectively.
Use cyclohexane-ethyl acetate (3:1) as the developing agent to develop, Take it out, dry it, spray it with an acidic 5% ferric chloride ethanol solution of hydrochloric acid, and heat it until the spots become clear. In the chromatogram of the test substance, the same blue-brown spots were displayed on the corresponding position of the chromatogram of the reference substance.
